-
A genus of fungi within the phylum Zygomycota that are ubiquitous in nature and generally not considered pathogenic. Members of the Mucor genus produce apical, globular sporangia supported by columella, and do not produce rhizoids. Though generally thermointolerant, at least one species, Mucor indicus, may cause opportunistic infections in immunocompromised individuals to include zygomycosis.
