  • Batteries designed to deliver energy to the lamp (e.g., halogen) of some rigid endoscopes (e.g., otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes) and illuminators (e.g., larynx, nasopharynx). These batteries usually consist of a set of nonrechargeable alkaline cells or nickel-cadmium rechargeable cells. Some of these batteries are mounted in the handle of the endoscope; some rechargeable batteries may be attached to a specially designed recharger unit or directly to a power line outlet for recharging purposes.
