  • Needles designed for percutaneous transhepatic injection into the biliary ducts. These devices typically consist of very fine flexible needles (typically 22 or 23 gauge, 6- to 8-inch length); higher-caliber needles (e.g., 18, 20 gauge) are also used to inject the contrast media into the passage connecting the head of the gall bladder and the common bile duct (i.e., cystic duct). These needles are mostly used in radiographic procedures of the bile ducts (cholangiography).
