Polygraphs designed for graphic recording of physiologic parameters, such as electrocardiogram, electroencephalogram, chest wall motion, airflow at both the nose and the mouth, eye movements, oxygen saturation and electromyograms while the patient is asleep. Parameters may be added or omitted depending on the study being performed. These recorders include multiple electrodes placed on the patient in specific areas, amplifiers, and filters. They are used in assessing sleeping disorders (e.g., insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea).
