Pads designed for enhancement of magnetic resonance images by improving the homogeneity of the local magnetic field. These pads typically consist of an externally sealed cover filled with a liquid (e.g., perfluorooctyl bromide, also known as Perflubron) that has the same magnetic susceptibility as human tissue. The pads are placed between the MRI coil and the patient in such a way that they eliminate the air/tissue interfaces. MRI dedicated pads are usually conformed for use on places such as the neck, breast, ankle, and knee.
