These microscopes typically consist of a binocular microscope mounted in an articulated arm that is usually attached to an examination chair or mounted to a wall or ceiling. Most dermatology examination microscopes are used in doctors\' offices for diagnosis of skin diseases, wound exams, and frequently also for minor surgery procedures.
