Instruments (tools) designed to apply torque to (i.e., turn) screws and/or bolts. Screwdrivers typically consist of a handheld manual instrument with a cylindrical handle and an axial shaft with a slotted or cruciform (i.e., Philips) tip; less frequently screwdrivers have distal tips appropriate to turn square or hexagonal socket heads. There are several types of screwdrivers in use, including multi-bit handheld manual screwdrivers and battery powered screwdrivers. Screwdrivers are mainly used in healthcare facilities for orthopedic and dental procedures, in workshops (e.g., ophthalmic, orthopedic), and also for equipment maintenance.
