  • Central venous infusion catheters designed for direct insertion into the selected vein (typically, the subclavian or internal jugular veins are used). The distal tip is usually advanced to the superior vena cava. The length of these catheters is typically 20 cm (8 inches) for adult use, but may be 15 cm (6 inches) for smaller adults and even smaller for pediatric use.
