Microwave surgical units that use a device linking a microwave radiator to a scalpel. These units consist of a microwave generator typically of 150-to-200 watt energy and 2.45 GHz frequency, a coaxial cable to transmit the energy to the handle of the scalpel and a surgical scalpel that includes a small-loop antenna in the blade. Scalpel microwave surgical units are used in surgery of the liver and spleen.
