Towelettes used to apply an agent (disinfectant) to nonporous surfaces to reduce or eliminate infectious organisms. These towelettes are usually presoaked with the disinfectant; some include agents (germicides) that effectively kill the pathogenic microorganisms most commonly found in hospital environments. Disinfecting surface towelettes are used in medical, radiographic, dental, and laboratory instruments and equipment to avoid cross-contamination.
