Aspiration needles designed for percutaneous puncture of the pericardial cavity for aspiration of fluids (i.e., pericardiocentesis). These devices typically consist of long (typically from 4 to 7 inches [10 to 18 cm]) needles with a short bevel at the tip. Cardiac aspiration needles are sharp and stiff enough to perforate the pericardium.
