Simulators designed to mimic detectors and/or monitors of alpha and/or beta radiation. These simulators may use different technologies to simulate the ionizing radiation detection procedure; they frequently use nonhazardous simulation sources that can be located anywhere without radiation risks. Some simulators include a simulation probe that can be connected to the real detector and responds to the simulation sources as if it were detecting the real radioactive contamination. Alpha/beta particle radiation detector/monitor simulators are used for training in safe-area demarcation, instrument operation, and appropriate use of shielding without ionizing radiation sources.
