  • Nucleic acid processors designed for the automated determination of the precise sequence of the base pairs (i.e., adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine for DNA) in a sample of nucleic acid. These devices typically process samples of DNA molecules (labeled with multiple fluorescent dyes) that are loaded onto a gel. Usually, the samples are separated by size using capillary electrophoresis; samples are illuminated and detected using a scanning laser beam, and the results are processed using computer analysis.
