PropertyValue
?:definition
  • Component devices (\'modules\') designed to be used with physiologic monitors and related devices to acquire, measure, display, monitor, record/store, and in some cases analyze information related to one or more physiologic parameters reflecting a patient\'s clinical condition. These modules contain electronic circuits or other technology designed to acquire and/or process the signal from one or more physiologic sensors (e.g., electrodes, catheters, probes, pressure transducer sets) and transmit it to the physiologic monitor, which contains the software designed to support the module\'s intended function(s). Physiologic monitor modules are designed to be inserted in a dedicated location (e.g., \'slot\') within a physiologic monitor (e.g., modular or modular/configured bedside or transport monitor) or related device (e.g., module rack) and externally connected via cables/leads to the appropriate sensors (e.g., electrodes, catheters, probes, transducer sets) attached to or inserted in the patient. Physiologic monitor modules, when used as part of a patient monitoring system, allow users to change or add monitored parameters for an individual patient without having to employ other monitors or interrupt the monitoring of other parameters
