Surgical clamps designed for the atraumatic grasping or compression of a portion of the stomach during open-surgery procedures. These clamps are typically handheld, manual instruments with flat, long-nosed parallel jaws that are articulated (e.g., threaded) to a U-shape handle. Dedicated gastric clamps are available according to the characteristics of the stomach areas that they are intended to compress or separate (e.g., proximal and/or distal region, pylorus) and/or the procedure to be performed (e.g., resection); some gastric clamps include a twin clamping mechanism or a mechanism to lock the blades together.
