Surgical punches designed to excise a segment of tissue (typically in the form of a thin disc several millimeters in diameter) from the skin during surgical procedures. These devices are typically handheld, manual instruments with a hollow tube sharpened at the distal end and a handle; some handles can be used with a set of interchangeable cutting tips. Skin surgical punches are usually stronger and larger than skin punches used for biopsy; they are used mainly in plastic surgery (e.g., to remove skin blemishes) and for removal of small dermal tumors.
