Semiprecision dental attachments designed to attach an overlay partial denture (i.e., overdenture) to receptacles that are connected to or anchored within an abutment such as a natural tooth, abutment crown, dental implant, or tooth-root (radicular or intraradicular) stud. These attachments are typically two-component devices that attach to each other with a lesser degree of precision than a precision attachment: one component is fixed to the abutment or supported by tissue (usually resilient attachments) and a second component is integral part of the partial denture base. Overdenture semiprecision attachments are usually available as intra- and extracoronal devices according to the fixation site; magnetic-coupled attachments are also available.
