Surgical distractors designed to apply traction force to a lower limb (leg) allowing access to the knee joint space. The distractors allow the surgeon to adjust the angle of abduction/adduction, allowing control of flexion, extension, tilt, and rotation. These distractors typically consist of an adjustable force mechanism that may include clamps, screws, levers, and a strap attached and/or other accessory attached to the leg; the mechanism is attached at the other end to the operating table (e.g., on a side rail) or other type of support. Knee distractors are intended for use during surgical procedures performed in the knee, such as arthroplasty.
