  • Physiologic monitoring software designed to operate electromyography (EMG) monitors, control/monitor a limited number of their functions, and/or process data obtained while monitoring. This software is intended to work only with one or a few models of EMG monitors, usually from the same manufacturer. The software may perform a variety of algorithms to facilitate the operation and analysis of the measurements performed while monitoring EMG bioelectrical signals and/or while processing and/or transmitting/receiving patient information from workstations, and/or hospital information systems. EMG monitoring software is not usually available separate from the monitor but may be updated (i.e., through the release of modified versions) during the life of the equipment; the software is mainly used by bedside, telemetric monitors, and/or physiologic monitoring systems. Dedicated software is available according to the type of monitor used to measure electromyography.
