Eye surgical hooks designed to temporarily secure eye tissue by catching and/or pulling it during dissection, excision, and/or to perform other microsurgical procedures with minimal trauma. These eye surgical hooks are handheld manual stainless steel instruments and usually have a 45-degree curved blunt tip at the working end; the hooks typically include a slender handle at the proximal end. Eye microsurgery hooks can be constructed with titanium which provides a fully inert, light material that does not corrode and is not magnetic. Eye microsurgery hooks are used during microsurgical procedures (e.g., selective trabeculectomy in the surgical treatment of glaucoma).
