Knee orthoses designed to provide support and some degree of movement control to the knee joint in order toprevent excessive load on the joint. These orthoses include semi-rigid devices with pads and straps (e.g., braces), unloading the pressure on the knee joint and/or reducing partially its motion. Knee support orthoses are intended mainly to reduce the pressure on the knee in patients with ligament injuries, permitting a shorter period of rehabilitation.
