Wrist-hand-finger upper-limb orthoses designed for external modification of the structural and/or functional characteristics of the wrist joint and the hand during therapeutic procedures. These orthoses may consist of a device that encircles the forearm, including both dorsal and palmar (volar) adjustable solid stays attached along the hand and fingers that permit appropriate positioning of the wrist, fingers, and thumb. Static therapy wrist-hand-finger orthoses are used mainly after surgery (e.g., arthroplasty surgery).
