Devices designed to permit the mixing (i.e., blending) of compressed medical gases achieving blend concentrations (i.e., proportions) appropriate for a particular application. Typically the proportioners receive pure gases from the hospital gas pipeline or from other compressed gas sources (e.g., cylinders). These proportioners are usually equipped with a pressure-regulating mechanism and connectors for the primary gas sources and also for delivering of the blended gas. Compressed gas proportioners are used in healthcare facilities, doctors\' offices, and at home. Dedicated devices are available for obtaining specific combinations of gases, such as oxygen-air, nitrous oxide-oxygen, and heliox-oxygen.
