Water-jet surgical units designed to perform surgical procedures in wounds by means of a pressurized stream of water. These units typically consist of an electrically powered central console that includes a power display, a foot switch, power controls, a fault indicator, and a pressurized liquid system connected to a liquid pump. The procedure is typically performed using one of a variety of detachable single-use handpieces that provide the water-jet to the wound. Wound water-jet surgical units are intended to dissect and remove tissue and debris from wounds and surgical sites.
