Serology reagents intended to detect immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies to Haemophilus influenzae type B, a bacterium of the family Pasteurellaceae. These bacteria induce an inflammatory response that causes diseases. Encapsulated (polysaccharide) organisms of Haemophilus influenzae type B cause bacteremia and acute bacterial meningitis; they may occasionally cause epiglottitis (obstructive laryngitis), cellulitis, osteomyelitis, joint infections, and bacterial pneumonia in children.
