Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum) to determine in a short period of time, typically several minutes, one or more of a group of drugs that stimulates the mood of a depressed patient (I.e., antidepressants). Reagents used for rapid determination of antidepressant concentration in blood differentiate therapeutic levels (typically very low) from toxic levels due to overdose when these drugs are ingested either accidentally or intentionally. Rapid tests for antidepressant determination are mostly used in emergency situations.
