  • Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum) to determine cytoplasmic islet cell antibodies (ICAs). These antibodies are found in patients during the development of diabetes mellitus caused by autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta-cell. Measurement of ICA levels may be performed as a preclinical screening test to predict the development of diabetes in close relatives of patients with type I (i.e., insulin dependent) diabetes.
