?:definition
  • Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (usually whole blood or urine) to determine in a short period of time (typically several minutes) the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). FSH is one of the hormones that control the functional activity of the gonads (i.e., gonadotropins). The level of FSH is low in some women with polycystic ovary disease or hypothalamic dysfunction; decreased FSH levels are also found in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, anorexia, and in some cancers of the testes, ovaries, or adrenal glands.
