Immunohematology reagents used to characterize human blood according to the presence of the D antigen, the major antigen (also called Rh1) of the Rhesus group. D antigen is highly immunogenic and is the only Rh antigen that is matched in routine transfusion practice; red blood cells that possess this antigen are frequently termed Rh positive. Anti-D reagents may be polyclonal, monoclonal, or a blend of each.
