Molecular assay reagents intended to identify hepatitis viruses by detecting the nucleic acid of the target viruses. The most common viruses that cause hepatitis belong to the families Picornaviridae (hepatitis A virus), Hepadnaviridae (hepatitis B virus), and Flaviviridae (hepatitis C virus). These viruses may cause hepatitis, a disease characterized by jaundice and the increase of some enzymes in serum (e.g., aspartate aminotransferase).
