Molecular assay reagents intended to identify species of Salmonella, a genus of motile bacteria with peritrichous flagella of the family Enterobacteriaceae, by detecting specific nucleic-acid information of the target bacteria. Salmonella bacteria that are pathologic to humans include S. typhi, the cause of typhoid fever and S. choleraesuis, an etiologic agent of paratyphoid, gastroenteritis, and septicemia.
