Molecular assay reagents used in immunology tests to determine human leukocyte antigens (HLAs); their classes (e.g., I, II) and/or locations (loci), such as A, DR. These reagents are also capable of determining slightly different variants of the same protein (i.e., allotypes) that may be located in each loci (alleles) and that are characterized by antigenic differences. Tests for tissue typing are mostly used to match donor and recipient tissues before transplants. Several alleles are associated with specific immune diseases.
