Clinical chemistry reagents consisting of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pooled either from disease-state donors with above-normal concentrations of specific metabolites or, less frequently, obtained by extracting some components from normal donor CSF (i.e., deficient CSF); they are used as reagents for quality control of specific assays (e.g., glucose, protein) performed in a sample of CSF.
