Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analysis of body fluids (typically urine) to measure the level of one or more of the products (e.g., porphobilinogen) that are necessary to metabolize porphyrin. The presence of porphyrin precursors in urine is associated with porphyrin disorders (porphyrias); measurement of porphyrin precursor levels is used to differentiate among several types of porphyrias and other conditions that are clinically similar to porphyrias (e.g., lead poisoning).
