Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analyses of body fluids (typically serum) to determine the level of the enzyme chymotrypsin, particularly chymotrypsin II, the more common of the two forms of chymotrypsin in blood. Chymotrypsin levels in serum are mostly determined to assess pancreatic diseases (e.g., acute pancreatitis) and renal failures in adults; elevated levels may be present in cord blood of infants with cystic fibrosis.
