Hand-finger upper-limb immobilizer orthoses designed to stabilize and provide maximum restriction of movements and/or total immobilization of the hand, fingers, and thumb by providing a static (fixed) position using a fixed splint. These orthoses typically consist of a splint that is placed encircling the distal segment of the forearm and/or wrist and attached to a semi-rigid component used to hold in an appropriate static position the hand and fingers. Immobilizer hand-finger orthoses are used mainly to protect the hand and fingers from further damage during rehabilitation after traumatic injuries.
