Multipurpose pre-shaped splints made of thermosetting plastics that are designed for customization to the appropriate shape to fit the user needs at the point of care. These splints typically consist of a thin plastic splint sheet that can be modified only to a limited degree using a heat source (e.g., warm water) according to the body part and the needs of the patient. Pre-shaped plastic splint orthoses are intended mainly for emergency treatment of patients suffering fractures, sprains, dislocations, and/or other injuries of the limbs, neck, and/or other body parts. Dedicated plastic pre-shaped orthoses intended for a particular body part (e.g., arm, forearm, leg) are also available.
