Foot orthoses made of soft cushioning materials that are designed for accommodation and protection of rigid deformities of the foot. They are usually inserted inside the shoe, providing comfort and some degree of foot control. Soft supports typically consist of a prefabricated device made of soft and/or flexible materials (e.g., fabrics, plastics, foam) or a combination of these. Accommodative foot orthoses are available with a shape and size appropriate for the user; they are intended to alleviate metatarsal pain and other minor foot disabilities. Dedicated accommodative orthoses intended for the bunions are also available.
