  • Simulators designed for training in arthroscopic minimal access surgical procedures. These simulators typically include anatomical models resembling the characteristics of the human articulations made of plastics, metal, or a combination of these. They also include a central computerized unit located on an adjustable-height table or cart. The equipment simulates the conditions for arthroscopic minimally invasive operating conditions by providing the artificial models as well as making possible the use of surgical instruments, cameras, and video monitors through arthroscopes. The simulator also includes a main control unit with dedicated software that permits both training and recording of the surgical procedure in real time. Arthroscopy surgical training simulators may include (as integral parts or attached modules) anatomic models and other accessories intended for training in particular arthroscopic procedures such as treatment of mini-fractures, loose body removals, and meniscectomy performed in articulations such as the shoulder or knee.
