  • Serological measuring pipettes designed to measure and deliver multiple different amounts of liquid that permit the blowing out of the last drops after all the liquid has been allowed to drain out by gravity. These pipettes typically consist of a straight glass or plastic tube that is calibrated, usually in the range from 0.1 to 25.0 milliliters, using small divisions (i.e., graduation marks) that continue down into the tapered end. These pipettes have an open top that allows the user to cover with the thumb to create a vacuum. Once the liquid is transferred into the receiving container, the operator can force air through the open end to force the last drops into the container. Blow-out serological pipettes are clearly marked using a frosted band or two thin rings placed around the neck; they are used in healthcare facilities, mainly in clinical laboratories
