Hand/finger surgery retractors designed to temporarily separate and hold back hand and/or finger tissues, exposing and providing access to other soft tissues, bones, and/or anatomic structures of the hands that provide self-retention. These retractors usually consist of slender manual instruments including two flat thin flexible and narrow laminar components with cross-action that joint together at the proximal end, with solid or raked blades at the distal end with a locking mechanism (known as ratchet catch) that provides self-retention. Self-retained hand/finger surgical retractors are used for reconstructive and or plastic surgery procedures of the hands.
