Surgical retractors designed to temporarily separate and hold back hand and/or finger tissues, exposing and providing access to other soft tissues, bones, and/or anatomic structures of the hands. These retractors usually consist of slender handheld manual instruments with a solid or fork-like curved blade at the distal tip and an integral flat or tubular handle. Hand/finger surgical retractors are used for reconstructive (orthopedic) and/or plastic surgery procedures of the hands; cross-action flexible retractors providing self-retention are also available.
