Thin tubes designed to allow a user to consume a liquid beverage by serving as a conduit for the liquid from a vessel containing the liquid to the mouth of the user. Drinking straws are passive devices through which liquid is transferred by the user applying suction to the straw using his or her mouth. Drinking straws are typically single-use devices constructed of plastic or paper; re-usable straws constructed of metal, plastic, or other materials are also available.
