Resectoscopes designed for resection of the carpal ligament through a surgical incision at the base of the wrist. These resectoscopes typically consist of a pistol-like handpiece, and a video endoscopic device and disposable blade that are attached to the handpiece. The resectoscope is inserted in the wrist to provide a view of the wrist anatomy, including the ligament. Once the ligament is visualized, the retractable blade is placed in an appropriate position to resect the ligament when actioned by the handpiece trigger. Carpal tunnel ligament resectoscopes are used in for carpal tunnel release procedures.
