Prepackaged collection of the devices and supplies (i.e., either custom or standard) needed for performing attachment of an artificial eye shell (scleral shell) to an orbital implant to transfer greater ocular motility to the scleral shell for a more normal appearance. Items in these kits usually include a titanium sheath or sleeve with an outer threaded surface (usually coated in hydroxyapatite and into which can be inserted pegs), a manual drill or driver (and sometimes drill bits) for drilling into the orbital implant, a screwdriver for screwing the pegs or screws into the sheath implant, a temporary flat-head titanium peg or screw (which is later removed), and a permanent round-headed titanium peg or screw that is inserted after the sleeve has achieved stability within the orbital implant and to which attaches the outer scleral shell prosthesis. The rounded head of the permanent peg or screw serves as a ball and socket joint in communion with a depression that is custom-made in the posterior portion of the artificial scleral shell prosthesis. This coupling holds the scleral shell prosthesis securely against the orbital implant which may help alleviate pressure from the artificial eye prosthesis on the lower eyelid and transfer natural eye movements to the artificial eye prosthesis. The pegs and sheaths come in different sizes to fit differently sized artificial eyes used by adults and children.
