Environmental recorders designed primarily for storing information regarding the environmental air relative humidity. These recorders typically consist of a portable electronic unit that includes a mechanism for periodically sampling the relative air humidity by using sensors in a range typically from 5 to 95%, and a solid state memory capable of storing several thousand samples. Dedicated software for downloading the results in a standard computer (e.g., personal computer) is necessary for some recorders. Environmental relative humidity electronic recorders are used for long-term recording of air humidity; they may be intended for use indoors, outdoors, or in both conditions. Most of these recorders can also measure and record environmental temperature and calculate the dew-point. Some air humidity recorders use a mechanical or electromechanical mechanism to move a rotatory cylinder (i.e., chart recorders) to store the relative humidity information for relatively long-term (e.g., a week) recordings.
