Baths filled with a decalcifying solution that use ultrasonic power for fast destruction of crystalline structures (e.g., calcium and magnesium phosphates) present in tissue samples. These devices typically consist of a programmable computerized unit that includes a temperature controlled cuvette that is filled with the decalcifying solution, one or more sample containers, a source of ultrasonic power, and time and temperature controllers. Ultrasonic decalcifying baths are used in clinical laboratories for decalcification of tissue samples such as nose and ear cartilages and bone marrow before histology tests.
