Containers used to hold and carry liquids or other materials. They are vertical, watertight cylinders that are open at the top and with a flat bottom. They typically are made of metal, stainless steel, or plastic and have a handle or handles at the top to facilitate carrying and emptying. They are usually small enough to be picked up by hand. A typical bucket may have a 13 quart capacity with a diameter of 11.625 inches (29.53 cm) and a height of 9.25 inches (23.5 cm). Some buckets are lidded. Buckets that can be placed in frames with castors and that can be moved easily are called kick buckets and can be used to hold medical and/or surgical waste.
