Light sources designed to provide light illumination at the distal end of an endoscope by delivering light through a fiberoptic cable attached to the proximal end of the endoscope. These devices consist of a lamp fixture that include one of a variety of light sources [e.g., xenon, halogen, incandescent, light emitting diodes (LED)] and a detachable fiberoptic cable; dedicated adapters are frequently necessary for particular types of endoscopes. Fiberoptic cable endoscope light sources are used in endoscopic procedures performed for diagnosis, therapy, or surgery.
