  • Pneumatic radial shock wave therapy systems designed for orthopedic procedures. These systems typically consist of an electrically powered main unit that provides compressed-air (i.e., pneumatic) impulses to drive a projectile-like device located in a dedicated handpiece attached to the unit. The projectile in turn strikes an applicator at the distal end of the handpiece which applies pressure waves directly to the body area affected by pain. These systems are intended to trigger body actions such as inhibiting inflammatory mediators, activate cellular defenses, and release of pain mediators.
